Leopard print nails

So I had my first proper go at some nail art today! I've seen lots of people having the funky leopard print nails done by WAH and thought they looked awesome and wanted to try and recreate them. I'd seen some done by WAH in like a bluey/greeny colour with purple so wanted to try and do that one.

I used Chanel's Nouvelle Vague as my bluey/greeny base colour. I then used did dots using a pinky purple Barry M colour (it's a Boots limited edition colour, has no actual name). I then borrowed the new Model's Own nail pen from my flatmate to do the black outline, whacked on a nails inc top coat and this is the final results...

What do you think? Not too bad for a first time, I think I'll definitely have to keep practising but it was very fun! Can't wait to get paid so I can buy my own Model's Own nail art pens rather than borrow my flatmates!

Chanel Pulsion & Nars Pokerface

So I accidentally kinda spent all my money on nail varnish again... I really think perhaps I should invest in some kind of therapy for this addiction but for now, behold my gorgeous new purchases...

Pokerface by Nars

This is the gorgeous limited edition from Nars from their Holiday 2010 collection and it's a gorgeous Lilac colour with a slight shimmer. I'm totally digging this colour, it's a nice change of pace from the rest of the launches at the mo that are all very autumnal and muted. It's my first ever Nars nail varnish and I'm very impressed with it, great consistency and goes on really well. It costs £13 and I love it!

Pulsion by Chanel

Next up is the new Chanel nail colour from their Holiday 2010 collection called Pulsion. A very bright and gorgeous fuchsia pink colour that I love. For some reason on the Chanel website the colour looks very red but it's definitely not. I would say it's slightly darker than a previous release of theirs called Riviera. It's very bright and gorgeous and as always just a great nail varnish from Chanel. I'm such a fan... it's a real problem for my bank balance!

Ummm and on an unrelated note... how shocking was it that Aidan got kicked off the X Factor?! I'm in shock and very upset! He had the most gorgeous voice :(

Models Own - Nail Art Pen

Very exciting new launch from Models Own tomorrow! Launching on the 15th we'll be able to buy online the new Nail Art pen which they've created in collaboration with WAH nails. They're starting off with just two in Black and White but plan to launch in all the colours from their range. I'm quite excited about these, they look really easy to use and nail art is something I'd like to try and master. I think they only cost around £6 but don't quote me on that.

I can't wait till pay day so I can get some to try out!

PS. Don't forget to check out Wahanda's deal over HERE and sign up to get a free beauty voucher.

shoes!

So quick off topic blog post as I'm currently hiding in my bedroom waiting for my flatmate to hurry up and finish watching the x factor so I can then go watch it on catch up (I've been at the cinema)... anyway I digress... the point if this post is to say OOH look at my pretty shoes! I'm normally not a shoe kinda gal but when I saw these babies I had to have them. They're my bargain of the month as they were a steal at a tenner down from £50! They're from Office and I love them. Though I have no clue how I'm going to walk in them as they're 4 inch heels and I never wear heels... in fact I was nicknamed Bambi when I tried them on. Oh well... I can always just sit in them!

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss

Shock, horror it's a post that's not about nail varnish! If everyone could try to remain calm...

So during my accidental shopping trip the other day, where I ended up coming home with a bottle of Chanel's Paradoxal, I also ended up buying one of the new Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss.

I have to say I'm in love with this product.

Chanel describes it as "Bold colour combines with the smoothest, silkiest gel texture for luxurious wear and deeply dramatic effect." and I would have to agree! I went for the colour Insolence, which is a gorgeous pink colour. I'm pretty much always on the hunt for lip glosses of that kind of shade as it's my favourite. I've amassed quite a collection and this is definitely now in my top 3, along with MAC Cremesheen and Dior Addict Lip Polish.

The product stays on your lips and feels gorgeous, really soft and moisturising, whilst still being very pink. It looks moist rather than shiny if you know what I mean. It is by no means cheap at £22.50 but it is Chanel so what do you expect!

I'd definitely recommend this is you feel like splurging the cash. Now I really must stop wearing it every day otherwise it's going to run out!

notd - models own - peach puff

So today I've been wearing one of my new Models Own polishes, this gorgeous colour, called peach puff. It's the colour I was probably the least excited about but I'm loving it so much. It's just so gorgeous. They've definitely got a new fan in me!

Twilight & Simple Beauty

So I was the very lucky winner this week of a whole ton of Twilight goodies from the lovely website Simple Beauty. I entered a competition in their newsletter and landed my self this whole stash of goodies...

They kindly sent me a copy of Eclipse, copy of New Moon on DVD, Twilight nail varnish in Red Velvet, Limited edition Twilight New Moon lip venom, Just Bitten lip staining balm in lullaby and rapture. All of which are SO gorgeous!

I am a massive Twi-Hard (and proud of it!) so this was just the perfect prize. I'm going to try and do a post this weekend with swatches as I've already bought quite a few of their nail varnishes already which are great.

Models Own

So I placed my first order with Models Own this week after I saw the gorgeous new colours that they released. I ordered five colours and it only cost me £15.91 which I think is a freaking bargain! They do a great deal that if you buy 5 polishes you save £7 and then I had a 10% discount code too as it was my first ever order. So price wise I was pretty darn pleased with that!

I ended up getting (l-r) Vintage Pink, Grace Green, Mushroom, Purple Ash and Peach Puff.

These colours are just so gorgeous and creamy. I love them all and it's just far too hard to pick a favourite. I originally was interested after seeing their geniusly named "Car Key" collection, which are kind of supposed to be dupes of the Chanel Khaki collection. Grace Green and Purple Ash are from that collection and I have to say that they're not that dupey, the green is similar to Khaki Vert but lighter, I really like it. And I love Purple Ash more than Khaki Rose, it's such a pretty colour.

Another thing I love about these colours is that they go on really well, you could get away with one coat if you were in a hurry and they'd still look good. They also dry REALLY quickly, and properly, not touch dry and then smudge when you think they're ok... that happens to me a lot. I'm impressed that I really attacked my nails but there was no shifting that colour.

(l-r) Grace Green, Mushroom, Purple Ash, Vintage Pink and Peach Puff

The only thing I thought that was weird about the Models Own nail varnishes was the smell... they smelt funny, not like normal nail varnishes. I think perhaps it could be because they're not “big 3 free” but I don't know. It was weird. But not enough to put me off buying again.

Overall I'm really pleased with these despite the weird smell. The consistency and application was great, the colours are gorgeous and they were a bargain.

A+ Models Own... I shall be buying from you again!

Wear it Pink

It's Wear it Pink day everyone! Hope you've all been wearing pink and raising money for Breast Cancer Campaign today. I've been working on organising various Wear it Pink events for the past 2 months which culminated last week in a huge Wear it Pink party and auction in which we raised £5000. It was an awesome evening and as it's Wear it Pink today we had another raffle and we've raised a load more money today. I can't wait to add it all up and see our final total for such an important charity. One of my fellow PA's is off at the moment, recovering after breast cancer, so it's a really important charity to me and the girls. Hope you all have had similar successful days today!

I shall leave you with a rather drunken pic of me at the Wear it Pink party last week... note the two drinks in my hands...

Chanel le vernis Paradoxal

Just a quick post before bed to show you guys what I naughtily purchased yesterday. Yes, more Chanel, this time its the colour I swore I wouldn't buy, Paradoxal. It's a dark purple grey ish colour. I said I didn't want but then I found it in debenhams and I couldn't say no. As always it goes on beautifully and looks fab.

I really am addicted I know. Oh well, off to bed.

Chanel Le Vernis Riva

So the awesome blog Lacquerized has posted an exclusive from Chanel of another new nail varnish launch for 2011 and OH MY it is so gorgeous!

For all of the details head over to Lacquerized... you should head over there anyway cuz it's an awesome blog.

Guh, I want that nail varnish now. I'm such a wh0re for Chanel!

Barry M

So I FINALLY got my hands on the Barry M instant nail effects "Crackle" nail varnish. Thank you pay day, oh how I've been waiting for you!

This stuff is amazing, it's just so much fun to paint on. I'm wearing Orly in "Basket Case" (which is my new ultimate fav pink colour) with the Barry M on top to give the funky cracked look. It dries to a matt finish so I then put a Rimmel top coat over it to make it nice and shiny.

I also bought a new rapid drying spray today from Superdrug by Elegant touch. It cost £2.85 for 125ml which I thought was nice and cheap. It worked really well and touch dried my nails really quickly. Normally those sprays make my hands greasy but this didn’t leave much of a residue so I'd definitely recommend for those of you who don't have time to sit around to wait for your nails to dry!

I also may have accidentally bought Chanel Paradoxal... really shouldn't have done that but I couldn’t stop myself! Also got Chanel's Rouge Allure gloss in insolence too! BAD LULU! I'll do a post of both of them tomorrow, for now I'm off to the pub... I have a day off and I'm gunna enjoy it!

mascara = beauty

So this morning I received this email...

Dear Aunt Lip Gloss Voodoo.

I am an avid reader of your blog and would like some beauty advice, please. I am looking for a new mascara (as my mascara of the last 100 years has finally dried out) and I would like to purchase a new one, however I do not know what to buy as there is just too much to choose from. I would like one that is fairly subtle, definitely not clumpy. What would you suggest?

From
Confused reader

OK so it actually was from my best friend but who am I to hold that against her. I thought I'd share my response with you guys too...

I prefer Auntie but whatevs! :p

I would recommend one of the body shop mascara's. I love their Big and Curvy mascara but I think as you like yours a bit more subtle then you should go for Divide and Lengthen. They're really good and very reasonably priced.

If you did want to branch out and spend more money then the best mascara is Lancôme's Hypnose but it's more expensive (£20) but it really is the best mascara I've ever used.

You can't go wrong with The Body Shop ones, they've really improved them and I love them. Plus good for the environment and all that!

Much love,
Lipgloss Voodoo

So there you have it. I can't live without mascara. I literally would not leave the house with it on and I normally have about 6 different ones on the go at once!

MAC Bad Fairy.

I'm bored at my brothers, looking after my niece and nephew so thought I'd paint my nails. Grabbed my new MAC mail varnish from the venomous villains collection in the colour Bad Fairy. It's a really pretty red / Orange colour that is super glittery. I put 2 costs on and its goes on very smooth, not rough at all which sometimes glitter nail vanishes can be. It also dries quite quickly which is great. Overall I really like it, its just so shiny!

MAC Venomous Villains... delivered to my door!

IT ARRIVED TODAY!!! I am beyond giddy. My MAC Venomous Villains purchases arrived today at work and oh boy was I pleased!!

It's all so pretty. The packaging, the products... gorgeous! I only got stuff from the Maleficent range as I loved it the most and ran out of money to buy the other things I wanted but I'm really pleased with my purchases.

So I ended up getting the Nail Polish in "Bad Fairy", Lipglass in "Revenge is Sweet", Beauty Powder in "Briar Rose" for myself and Mineralize Eye shadow Duo in "My Dark Magic" for my best friend... early Christmas present!

Reviews to come next week but for now just pictures of them in all their glory!

Jergens Naturals

So I’ve been trying out a new product for the past week… Jergens Naturals Total Nourishment Body Moisturiser.

Jergens Naturals is hugely popular in the US and they launched over here in the UK last year and have really been having a huge advertising push (they’re even the sponsors of The Wedding House which I’m currently watching!). They currently have 5 versions of their Body Moisturiser and I decided to try out the Total Nourishment Body moisturiser as my skin can be very dry at times.

I’ve been using it every day and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my skin. It looks healthier, fresher, softer and not as dry. I’ve definitely noticed the difference on my elbows where the skin is always really dry which is fab! The moisturiser smells divine but it isn’t too overpowering that it interferes with my perfume.

It soaks into my skin really quickly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling too sticky like some moisturisers do. You really don’t need too much of it either so I think this big bottle will last me a while.

It costs £4.99 for 200ml. Compared to other moisturisers in the same price range I think Jergens is really great, definitely a new firm favourite.

Sample kindly sent to me by PR for review. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

Andrea Fulerton nail polish

So when browsing through Stylist magazine the other week I saw this gorgeous nail colour by Andrea Fulerton which is currently available from Superdrug. It’s called Julia and is a gorgeous kind of brick rose colour. It costs £4.99 but the bottle is quite small (5.5ml) so really for the amount you get it’s priced along the same lines as OPI and Nails Inc. I really liked the formula to this.It goes on beautifully, not too thick and not too thin. You could get away with one coat if you were in a hurry and it’d still look great.

I bought another couple of colours so I’ll post those when I get a chance too. Overall I was really pleased with this colour and would definitely buy more from the range.

Give and Make Up

A few of the lovely ladies on twitter have got together and come up with a great idea to help up women around the UK who are in some really terrible situations.

The idea is to donate beauty and personal hygiene products to women around the country who are in need of help from the charity Refuge. They want to collect as much as possible and get it to the people who need it.

More info is over here and please also follow Give and Make Up on twitter.

Hopefully we can all help out the women who so desperately need it so please go check it all out!

MAC Venomous Villains

It's launched!! Everyone head over to MAC now and get it before it's sold out! I managed to get everything I wanted thankfully!

I am beyond giddy right now!!

MAC Venomous Villains

Anybody else waiting in anticipation for MAC's online launch of the MAC Venomous Villains collection? It's an awesome collaboration that they've done with Disney and I've been waiting for this release for months now! I cannot wait, fingers crossed I manage to get the products I want as everything will blatantly sell out in seconds!

I rang their customer service and the guy told me that it will be available online from 2pm today so everyone get prepared. If you haven't seen the collection then check out Temptalia as she's done a ton of reviews and posts on it so you can figure out beforehand what you want.

I'm mostly after the bits in Maleficient collection. Anybody managed to get their hands on it already? What bits do you think look the best?

Benefit Costmetics.

I am a huge fan of Benefit. And I mean HUGE. My addiction started when I was 16 and got my first “show off” eye shadow (which btw, they should totally bring back). I can’t remember who bought it for me but I just know that I was hooked. I’ve been a faithful fan for the past 10 years and my love for their products never wavers. I pretty much have the whole range, the only ones I don’t have are the ones I don’t want. I always get the limited edition palettes at Christmas when they’re normally released. I do not go a day without wearing something made by Benefit on my face/body. I am also responsible for the Benefit addictions of at least 4 of my friends and that makes me proud. Spreading the benefit love around!

Anyway I thought I’d share a couple of my favourite products of theirs starting with their powders.

1. Dandelion – “pink perk-me-up face powder”

A gorgeous soft pink powder that you can put on just your cheeks or all over for a complexion pick me up. A really gorgeous powder.

2. Georgia – “a "just peachy" face powder”

Really gorgeous peach colour powder that perks up your skin and looks gorgeous.

3. thrrrob – “"turned on" face powder”

This is supposed to give you that flushed look you get when flirting with that hot boy! I have to say its probably my least favourite of their powders, I don’t really feel that it does anything to my skins at all. If you want this kind of subtle pink flushed look then Dandelion is much better.

4. Perfect 10 – “bronzing & highlighting face powder duo”

This is definitely one of my favs, it’s really subtle and gives you a gorgeous application if you use the brush to give you highlight up top and bronzer on your cheekbones or if you mix it up on your brush and just apply together. It really is gorgeous and if you don’t own I suggest you go out and buy it now.

5. Sugarbomb – “"sugar rush flush" face powder”

Their newest powder and definitely a firm favourite. This powder smells amazing as well as looking gorgeous. Made up of 4 different colours that blend perfectly to give your cheeks a gorgeous blush look. It stays on for hours and is just gorgeous.

6. CORALista – “coral blush for a tropical flush”

Simply gorgeous, I probably wear this one the most and it just looks beautiful. A gorgeous peachy/pink colour and just brightens up your face instantly. I can’t recommend this enough.

Hoola and Dallas are the only ones I don’t have full size versions of but I have Hoola in a ltd edition palette. But to be honest I’m not much of a bronzer girl.

I am massively excited about the release “Her Name is Glowla” which is a new limited edition kit that is just freaking beautiful. It has so many gorgeous products in it and is just perfect. I have no money until next pay day so I’m going to have to wait 3 weeks until I can get my mitts on it.

american apparel

So one of the lovely girls from work has discovered American Apparel's nail varnishes and has been raving about them to me so I thought I'd steal hers and give it a go.

Malibu Green

This colour is just SO gorgeous. Really vibrant and eye catching. The formula is great, it went on really well and I only needed one coat which dried really quickly. The bottle is a great size (15ml), nice and big. The bottles cost £7 which is a great price but, annoyingly, they are only $6 in America, so as usual we're being massively short changed over here in the UK. But the product is so good that I'd happily pay £7 for them. I've only just painted my nails at lunch so can’t comment on chipping but Liz painted hers on Friday and has kept it on all weekend (no top coat) and they still look fab, only slightly chipped on one nail. Pretty good going if you ask me.

So these are now another new favourite of mine, the range of colours they have on their website is great. Plenty to choose from!

PS. How good is the camera on my new phone?! Way better than my actual camera, might have to start using it from now on!

blondes are adored.

Hair. Pretty much my most favourite thing about a person. I am like Sampson... without my hair I am nothing.

I am a bubbly blonde and I LOVE that it is part of my personality. My friends always joke that they can always find me in a crowd because my hair is so white it makes me stand out. I am a big believer in that your hair can totally affect your mood. Make up is the same but even if I have fab make up but shit hair I will feel awful and refuse to go out and have fun. The days at work that I turn up with greasy hair up in a ponytail are the ones that I feel unattractive, unconfident and don't want to bring any attention to myself.

However if I've gotten my lovely best friend Paige to curl my hair for me before work then I'm in a fab mood, up for going out and demanding attention from everyone... especially the hot boys in the office!

Money is very tight at the mo, (especially last month as a bit of an extended financial hangover from my birthday) this meant that instead of getting my hair dyed after the customary 6 weeks I had to wait until today... 7 and a half weeks after I last had it dyed. Therefore I've had awful roots for the past 2 weeks and it's just totally affected my mood. I’ve felt shit and not wanted to look in the mirror. Totally self-conscious, thinking that all people see are my dark roots. I very much doubt that is the case (well with most people!) but that’s what I would think when I looked in the mirror. Thankfully pay day has come around and after a 3 and a half hour visit to my lovely hair dressers house, I am fully restored to my platinum glory. Ready to take on the world at work tomorrow.

I guess it could be seen as quite vain to think like that but I don’t think so, it's more about how great hair can make you feel. The confidence it can give you.

I might have a huge ass but at least I've got great hair. And by Jove I will twirl it around my fingers when I'm flirting with those gorgeous boys in the office.

Chanel - Les Khakis de Chanel

Whenever Chanel launches a new limited edition everyone is sure to scramble to get their hands on them and then inevitably you'll get the onslaught of dupes from other brands. I however am always one of those people who desperately has to get their hands on the Chanel..

Les Khakis de Chanel is their latest limited edition collection that was created by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, in celebration of Fashion's Night Out. Unfortunately I had to work late on the night of the launch night at Selfridges so I was convinced that they'd all be sold out by the time I managed to get there a few days later. There were three colours in the collection and when I managed to get to Selfridges all the colours had sold out apart from Khaki Vert, which luckily enough was the one that I was after!

I am a huge fan of Chanel's nail varnishes. Not only are the colours always gorgeous but they have a great consistency and go on really well. The above was achieved with 2 coats and a top coat. I really love this colour; it's really rich and gorgeous. I've seen the other two in the collection and they don't look as good as they do in pictures. I'm pleased I managed to get my hands on Khaki Vert - it's such a gorgeous colour, definitely a new favourite.

nails inc. explosive Comfort pink

So a couple of months back Comfort fabric softeners did a competition online in partnership with Nails Inc. I was lucky enough to win one of their limited edition nail varnishes that they did together called "explosive Comfort pink". A gorgeous bright pink that pop's and looks just as good on the nails as it does in the bottle.

The picture above shows it on with only one coat and then I did the tips with my Matte top coat just because I got bored! I need a bit more practise with the tips but I quite like it!

I really really love this colour, it's my kind of pink and looks so gorgeous on. I'm a huge Nails Inc. fan and this has to be one of my favourites, it's a shame that it is a limited edition.

George at Asda.

So a couple of friends of mine from work have insisted that their latest amazing beauty find is the range of make up from George at Asda. I am far from hopeful as let's just say I'm not the biggest fan of Asda. However the girls insisted that I take one of the nail varnishes to try and that I did.

So I tried out the George at Asda quick dry nail varnish in “Be Mine”. It's a very light violet colour. It's got a rather thick consistency to it that I didn't like; it didn't go on particularly well because of this and went a bit streaky. It did dry really quickly which was great, most "quick dry" nail varnishes are normally a bit shit but this was really fast. However because it dries so quickly I just found it quite hard to apply. The girls have insisted that it doesn't chip easily but for me it's already slightly chipped already. I didn't put any top coat on like I normally do though as I wanted to really test it.

Overall I'm not a massive fan but am more impressed that I thought I was going to be. For £1.50 it's really not a bad deal.

Though as I said to the girls today... I think I'll be sticking with Chanel!

Oooh talking of which... "Les Khakis De Chanel" comes out at Selfridges tomorrow! I'm going to try and head there tomorrow after work but I'm sure it'll all be sold out by then :(

autumnal.

So I decided that every day this week I would go all autumnal and have a different autumn/winter colour on my nails to really embrace the awful notion that summer is well and truly over. So here they are, four days of gorgeous colours - what's your fav?

Tuesday

Nails Inc - The Thames
Application - Two coats
Love this gorgeous dark grey, it goes on quite well but needed two coats just to get it really dark and gorgeous.

Wednesday

Nails Inc - The Serpentine
Application - One coat
LOVE this blue, it kinda looks like petrol blue, really gorgeous and rich, doesn't look black at all which I think sometimes can happen with quite dark blues. Had a few comments on how pretty this one was. Goes on really well and only needs one coat.

Thursday

OPI - Ski Teal We Drop
Application - One coat
I've wanted to get my hands on this one since I saw pics of it a few weeks ago. Definitely my favourite from OPI's Swiss collection, it's similar to Wed's colour but its definitely more Teal, really gorgeous colour. One of my new favs!

Friday

Nails Inc - Cadogan Square
Application - One coat
Another new purchase that I'm in love with. It's one of Nails Inc new limited edition colours and it's this gorgeous caramel/camel colour and it looks scrummy, good enough to it! Camel is very in this season so why not have it on your nails too!

I have to apologise for the crappy photos, my camera really is rather shit. I suppose that’s what you get for buying a camera because it's metallic pink.

MAC Fabulous Felines

Just a quick post to say that the MAC (UK) website has got the Fabulous Felines range up on there now so if you wanted to get your hands on any head over now before it's all sold out.

I think my personal fav is the "Leopard Luxe" but I'm feeling too poor to purchase anything!

Minx - Nails Inc

So a few weeks ago I decided to get the Minx manicure done at Nails Inc. I've wanted to get these done for ages, I'd seen lots of pics of all the celebs done with the Silver or Gold metal nails and thought it looked wicked. I decided to get it done at Nails Inc as I'd had manicures done there before and had a great experience.

I opted to go for the Silver Minx nails as I wear a lot of silver jewellery so thought it'd go better. They basically give your nails a mini manicure and sort out your cuticles etc. to begin with. They then have the minx on sheets and measure them out for each of your nails and cut the transfers down to size if they don't fit. Essentially they're stickers that they then slightly heat under the lamp and then stick them to your nails and stretch them across really tight. To finish off they then file them off at the top to get rid of the extra bit of the stickers and voilà you're done. Mine looked like this...

HOWEVER... half way through doing my nails the girl told me that it was only the 2nd time she'd ever done them! Slightly worrying and I really don't think that they should be allowed to do it on customers with only one go at training. I noticed as she was doing it that a couple of them were starting to crease already but I just thought they'd be fine.

Two hours later and they looked like this...

Not sure if you can quite see it (the photo is a bit crappy) but on each hand there were three nails that were peeling at the top already. Within a day they looked pretty crappy up close and I ended up having to peel them off after three days cuz they were driving me insane.

Now I'm not blaming Minx for this, I think it's a great idea and they normally work really well. I'm blaming Nails Inc for giving me a manicurist who had only ever done it once before doing it on my nails. I will definitely be having it done again, just not at Nails Inc and I'll make sure to check beforehand that the person doing it was more experienced!

Love for The Body Shop

I go through phases with the Body Shop. One minute I love it and go in there and spend £70 in one go and then I off it completely and don't go in there for months.

I'm currently on an "I love the body shop" kick.

A few weeks ago I bought a product from there called "Seaweed Pore Perfector", just a random impulse purchase but oh boy was I pleased I did. I am in love with this product. According to their website it is...

"A lightweight gel treatment, specially formulated to target specific problem areas, such as enlarged or blocked pores, excess oiliness and occasional blemishes. Helps to improve the appearance of large pores over time, with continued regime use."

And it does exactly what it says on the tin. My skin can be pretty awful at times and it has improved SO much since using the product. It doesn't feel as oily and I definitely have had less spots and just better skin in general. I LOVE this product. So once that had sucked me in I decided to look at the rest of the range.

The thing I love about the body shop is when they do mini versions of their products all neatly togheter in a mini kit so that you can try it out and that way you haven't wasted loads of money buying everything in the range to only then realise you only like two of the products. The little pack comes with Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash, Seaweed Clarifying Toner, Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream, Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment in nice handy travel sizes all together. All of the prodcuts are great, my favourite is still the Pore Perfector but they all work really well together. My skin feels lovely and clean but not dried out at all and the products all smell really gorgeous to boot!

Another new range of products they have recently released is the Vitamin C range and I purchased the Vitamin C Skin Reviver. The idea is to use it after you've done everything else to your face as a kinda "skin pick-me-up". It gives your skin this gorgeous silkyness and a really great glow. It smells devine and makes your skin feel amazing.

Anyone got any products from The Body Shop that they love and would recommend?

rimmel "fruties"

I am always taken in by a good gimmick so was very excited about Rimmel London's "Fruities" nail varnishes that smell of the fruit that they look like. It kinda reminds me of those pens that used to smell of fruit back in the 80's, I remember my big sister having them and me being desperately jealous of how cool they were.

Anyway Rimmel have released 4 colours and I purchased two; strawberry fizz and cranberry zest. Generally I find with Rimmel's nail varnishes that you have to put on about 3 coats and they always chip quite easily, however these two actually go on quite nicely and aren't as thin as I normally find Rimmel's varnishes to be. Annoyingly though because of the smell I didn't think there was any point in putting top coat on, as it kinda defies the point, which means that they did chip within a day.

The colours are really lovely though and they smell so yummy!

a different kind of brazilian.

So I have been the crappiest blogger ever recently thanks to no internet followed by too much work and too much going on in general. I've been so busy I haven't been able to even read any of the blogs I follow let alone right my own. Useless!

Anyway the first thing I wanted to talk about was the Brazilian Blow Dry that I had done 3 weeks ago. I was really excited about getting it done as I'd heard it basically fixes really ruined hair and I've been bleaching mine blonde for the past 10 years. I take pretty good care of it by always using Kerastace products on it but it is still inevitably dry at times due to the damage that bleach does to the hair. My hairdresser originally told me about the Brazilian blow dry and I did a bit of research online to find out more and decided that I would really like to get it done to see if it helps improve the condition of my hair. However they normally cost around £250 and that is just more than I was willing to pay.

Well luck would have it that I got sent an offer on a website called Groupon where they were selling a voucher to get a Brazilian blow dry done at a salon in Mayfair for only £80! I immediately thought it was a bargain and signed up.

The salon it was for is called Eleven and I managed to get an appointment quite quickly which was great and the salon itself was lovely. All in all it took 2 hours and was pleasant enough. I was told it should last 12 weeks, not to wash it for 3 days and that I couldn't use normal shampoo, I had to buy shampoo that didn't contain sodium laurate as it breaks down the stuff that is supposed to soften the hair.

Well when I came out my hair certainly felt softer and looked shinier. However, this didn't last. Despite using the shampoo and conditioner and doing everything right my hair has already gone back to normal.

I'm REALLY unimpressed. It didn't even make blow-drying my hair easier which was another thing it was supposed to.

I don't know if it's the place that I got it done or the product itself but I was left feeling very irritated that I'd parted with all that money for nothing. Thank god I didn't spend the £250 it should have cost.

Back.

So my internet has been broken at home now for the past 2 weeks. It's been slowly killing me not being able to get online! But thanks to the lovely man at Virgin Media it is now up and running and I'll finally be able to post the 50 million nail posts that I've been saving!

Also in the time I've been away I got a Brazilian Blow Dry and Minx nails done too so posts about those are on the way as well.

So I arrived late to the party with the whole MAC drama but I think it's just awful and am pleased that they've decided to change the name and donate money to the cause. However I still think I won't be buying the collection, how anyone who works there or at Rodarte ever thought it was a good idea I'll never know. If you don't know what I'm talking about head over to British Beauty Blogger for her take on the situation. Right now I have to get back to work... and I've just painted my nails so it's hard to type!

Hair.

My hairdresser has been telling me about this new treatment called a Brazilian Blow Dry which basically fixes your hair if it’s all dry and damaged like mine can get due to my excessive bleaching of it! Well lo and behold since she mentioned it I've been hearing about it everywhere. This morning I was sent a link to a site where you can buy a voucher to get it done at a London salon for only £80!! That is 60% discount, it's insane!

If anyone else is interested you can check it out here. I've ordered mine already and am very excited!

Fearne by Fearne Cotton

Sorry I've been so quiet, real life has been getting in the way... plus I'm really poor so trying to avoid buying anything this month! Although I did give in at the weekend and will post about that tonight.

Anyway I just popped on to share a post from Glamour.com - Apparently Fearne Cotton is launching her own range of cosmetics in autumn. More details here. It all sounds very exciting, she's quite funky so I would definitely check out whatever she launches.

Celebs seem to be going over the top when it comes to launching their own fragrances/fashion lines/beauty products/underwear etc. Could this be the start of a billion celebrity cosmetics lines? I think it's a good fit with Fearne by the sounds of things but let's hope that Jordan doesn't bring her out her own line... actually I wouldn't be surprised if she hasn't already!

blame canada.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

And in honour of the wonderful canadian people I thought I'd do a little post dedicated to my favourite canadian cosmetics company... MAC. This is a little tribute to my top 3 Limited Edition collections that MAC have done. I'm thinking as soon as the Villians Villans collection comes out it'll be my number one but for now...!

1. Barbie loves MAC.
All. Time. Favourite.
Now this could be because I MASSIVELY love Barbie... so it's two of my favourite things coming together and making sweet sweet love! Pink, pink and more pink! AH-MA-ZING!

2. To the Beach
I missed out on getting my hands on any of this collection which makes me feel very sad :( It had so many gorgeous colours and the high light powder was just possibly the most gorgeous bit of make up ever! I'm also just a massive fan of corals and anything that looks like it belongs in the sea/on a mermaid. Gorgeous.

3. Heatherette
Just screams 80's glam and I LOVE it. I wanna crimp my hair and smother myself in glitter!

I hope you enjoyed the prettynes... and now I'm off to bed cuz this week has just been WAY too long.
