MAC Fabulous Felines

Just a quick post to say that the MAC (UK) website has got the Fabulous Felines range up on there now so if you wanted to get your hands on any head over now before it's all sold out.

I think my personal fav is the "Leopard Luxe" but I'm feeling too poor to purchase anything!

Minx - Nails Inc

So a few weeks ago I decided to get the Minx manicure done at Nails Inc. I've wanted to get these done for ages, I'd seen lots of pics of all the celebs done with the Silver or Gold metal nails and thought it looked wicked. I decided to get it done at Nails Inc as I'd had manicures done there before and had a great experience.

I opted to go for the Silver Minx nails as I wear a lot of silver jewellery so thought it'd go better. They basically give your nails a mini manicure and sort out your cuticles etc. to begin with. They then have the minx on sheets and measure them out for each of your nails and cut the transfers down to size if they don't fit. Essentially they're stickers that they then slightly heat under the lamp and then stick them to your nails and stretch them across really tight. To finish off they then file them off at the top to get rid of the extra bit of the stickers and voilĂ  you're done. Mine looked like this...

HOWEVER... half way through doing my nails the girl told me that it was only the 2nd time she'd ever done them! Slightly worrying and I really don't think that they should be allowed to do it on customers with only one go at training. I noticed as she was doing it that a couple of them were starting to crease already but I just thought they'd be fine.

Two hours later and they looked like this...

Not sure if you can quite see it (the photo is a bit crappy) but on each hand there were three nails that were peeling at the top already. Within a day they looked pretty crappy up close and I ended up having to peel them off after three days cuz they were driving me insane.

Now I'm not blaming Minx for this, I think it's a great idea and they normally work really well. I'm blaming Nails Inc for giving me a manicurist who had only ever done it once before doing it on my nails. I will definitely be having it done again, just not at Nails Inc and I'll make sure to check beforehand that the person doing it was more experienced!

Love for The Body Shop

I go through phases with the Body Shop. One minute I love it and go in there and spend £70 in one go and then I off it completely and don't go in there for months.

I'm currently on an "I love the body shop" kick.

A few weeks ago I bought a product from there called "Seaweed Pore Perfector", just a random impulse purchase but oh boy was I pleased I did. I am in love with this product. According to their website it is...

"A lightweight gel treatment, specially formulated to target specific problem areas, such as enlarged or blocked pores, excess oiliness and occasional blemishes. Helps to improve the appearance of large pores over time, with continued regime use."

And it does exactly what it says on the tin. My skin can be pretty awful at times and it has improved SO much since using the product. It doesn't feel as oily and I definitely have had less spots and just better skin in general. I LOVE this product. So once that had sucked me in I decided to look at the rest of the range.

The thing I love about the body shop is when they do mini versions of their products all neatly togheter in a mini kit so that you can try it out and that way you haven't wasted loads of money buying everything in the range to only then realise you only like two of the products. The little pack comes with Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash, Seaweed Clarifying Toner, Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream, Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment in nice handy travel sizes all together. All of the prodcuts are great, my favourite is still the Pore Perfector but they all work really well together. My skin feels lovely and clean but not dried out at all and the products all smell really gorgeous to boot!

Another new range of products they have recently released is the Vitamin C range and I purchased the Vitamin C Skin Reviver. The idea is to use it after you've done everything else to your face as a kinda "skin pick-me-up". It gives your skin this gorgeous silkyness and a really great glow. It smells devine and makes your skin feel amazing.

Anyone got any products from The Body Shop that they love and would recommend?

rimmel "fruties"

I am always taken in by a good gimmick so was very excited about Rimmel London's "Fruities" nail varnishes that smell of the fruit that they look like. It kinda reminds me of those pens that used to smell of fruit back in the 80's, I remember my big sister having them and me being desperately jealous of how cool they were.

Anyway Rimmel have released 4 colours and I purchased two; strawberry fizz and cranberry zest. Generally I find with Rimmel's nail varnishes that you have to put on about 3 coats and they always chip quite easily, however these two actually go on quite nicely and aren't as thin as I normally find Rimmel's varnishes to be. Annoyingly though because of the smell I didn't think there was any point in putting top coat on, as it kinda defies the point, which means that they did chip within a day.

The colours are really lovely though and they smell so yummy!

a different kind of brazilian.

So I have been the crappiest blogger ever recently thanks to no internet followed by too much work and too much going on in general. I've been so busy I haven't been able to even read any of the blogs I follow let alone right my own. Useless!

Anyway the first thing I wanted to talk about was the Brazilian Blow Dry that I had done 3 weeks ago. I was really excited about getting it done as I'd heard it basically fixes really ruined hair and I've been bleaching mine blonde for the past 10 years. I take pretty good care of it by always using Kerastace products on it but it is still inevitably dry at times due to the damage that bleach does to the hair. My hairdresser originally told me about the Brazilian blow dry and I did a bit of research online to find out more and decided that I would really like to get it done to see if it helps improve the condition of my hair. However they normally cost around £250 and that is just more than I was willing to pay.

Well luck would have it that I got sent an offer on a website called Groupon where they were selling a voucher to get a Brazilian blow dry done at a salon in Mayfair for only £80! I immediately thought it was a bargain and signed up.

The salon it was for is called Eleven and I managed to get an appointment quite quickly which was great and the salon itself was lovely. All in all it took 2 hours and was pleasant enough. I was told it should last 12 weeks, not to wash it for 3 days and that I couldn't use normal shampoo, I had to buy shampoo that didn't contain sodium laurate as it breaks down the stuff that is supposed to soften the hair.

Well when I came out my hair certainly felt softer and looked shinier. However, this didn't last. Despite using the shampoo and conditioner and doing everything right my hair has already gone back to normal.

I'm REALLY unimpressed. It didn't even make blow-drying my hair easier which was another thing it was supposed to.

I don't know if it's the place that I got it done or the product itself but I was left feeling very irritated that I'd parted with all that money for nothing. Thank god I didn't spend the £250 it should have cost.
